Day 1: iSmart Shankar posts massive numbers

‘iSmart Shankar’ took a flying start at the box-office surprising the trade pundits. After a long time, a Puri Jagannadh directed movie took such a massive opening. In Nizam, the film has raked in whopping Rs 3.40 Cr, which is the highest ever opening in Ram’s career. 

Even in the Ceded area, the movie took Rs 1.20 Cr share, which is a record among medium-range heroes. Just before the release, director Puri Jagannadh revealed that Vizag distributor had expressed doubts about the movie. “You have used thick Telangana accent for the lead hero. People on this side of the area would not understand,” the distributor reportedly expressed doubt. Interestingly, in Vizag, the movie took Rs 0.88 Cr which is one of the all-time biggest opening ever. 

On Day 1, the movie in all areas in Telugu states, ‘iSmart Shankar’ registered massive numbers. The film has collected a whopping Rs 7.50 Cr in Telugu states on day 1.
However, the movie took a pretty ordinary opening in the USA.

It has been a long time in Telugu films a mass entertainer has come out in the theaters. Despite its crass dialogue and over-the-top narration, the masses have owned it on day one. 

‘iSmart Shankar’ is directed by Puri Jagannadh. It starred Ram as the lead star. The film has become the highest ever opening movie in Ram’s career, giving him a much-needed boost to his career. The film starred Nabha Natesh and Nidhii Agerwal, both of them didn’t exhibit shyness to showcase their assets on the screen.
