Oscar winning music composer A R Rahman has broken silence on ‘Me Too’ movement. Singer Chinmayi and other singers made allegations against legendary Tamil lyricist Vairamuthu saying he harassed them sexually. Rahman’s sister also recently admitted that the lyricist’s predatory behavior is an open secret.

Rahman has long association with Vairamuthu. Hence the great music composer took it to Twitter to respond on this movement. He didn’t mention anyone’s name, though but he said he’s shocked by the names.

“Been observing the #metoo movement... Some of the names have shocked me... both the victims and their perpetrators...1 would love to see our industry become cleaner and respectful of women... More power to all the victims coming forward!!,” he tweeted.

He also made it clear that he is committed to create healthy space for everyone at his workplace.

“In all my endeavors. my team and I are committed to creating an environment where everyone finds a safe creative space to bring their best. evolve and succeed,” he stated.

However, Rahman also cautions about the misuse of social media. He further tweeted, “Social media offers great freedom for victims to speak up, however we should be careful in creating a new internet justice system, in case it's misused.”
