Venky Atluri, another victim of second movie syndrome!

Tollywood has seen many young and good talents go downwards after making sensational debut. The list of directors who delivered big flops with their second films is long. Latest addition to this list is Venky Atluri who debuted with a breezy romantic entertainer ‘Tholi Prema’ that explored the modern relationship of a couple’s first love. He impressed with his narrative skills in the first movie. His understanding of today’s youth’s feelings seemed perfect.

However, he fell for the second movie syndrome. His second film 'Mr.Majnu' not only received bad ratings but also turned down by the paying public.

Generally, directors get relaxed after their first film becomes hit. On the other hand, producers want to cash in on the director's success and force him to start second film immediately. Thus they go to the sets with no proper script. Watch 'Tholi Prema' and 'Mr.Majnu' back-to-back, you would realise that he has made same twice. This is why most directors fail with their sophomore effort.

Will he bounce back with his next film? Will he get another chance with a star or will he have to take next project for longer time?
