Urmila Matondkar has entered into active politics. She joined the Congress party today. She had meeting with Congress party Chief Rahul Gandhi in Delhi and expressed her desire to field in elections.  The Congress made the announcement in a tweet with a picture of Urmila receiving a bouquet from Rahul Gandhi.

She created sensation with 1995 blockbuster "Rangeela". Ram Gopal Varma made her star with series of films like 'Antham', 'Gaayam', 'Rangeela', 'Daud', 'Bhoot' and 'Satya. She also acted in films like 'Bharateeyudu'.

The 45-year-old actress is expected to be given Congress ticket in Mumbai in ensuing Loksabha polls.
