Nani's US market not growing further?

There is no denying the fact that Nani is a star performer and has a great following in the Telugu states. His boy next door looks and his capability of showcasing emotions in a natural way have made him a lovable star in every section of the audience.

Nani became a bankable star and even made overseas audience his fans with the film ‘Bhale Bhale Magadivoy’ (BBM) which hit the screens in 2015. The film made $1.4 million in the US and is Nani's biggest hit to date.

But sadly, when Nani was going great guns, his career hit a speed bumper with the failures of ‘Krishnarjuna Yuddham’ and ‘Devdas’. If you observe closely, Nani gave four super hits after BBM and all the films made $1 million in the US market. But the sad part is that none of the films has crossed the 1.4 million mark to date.

The latest example being ‘Jersey’ which won rave reviews. Every other leading website gave a minimum of 3.5 but sadly the film has ended its run just above $1.2 million. ‘Jersey’ had faced stiff competition from ‘Kanchana 3’ in domestic market but it had no such competition in USA market till the arrival of the box-office tsunami ‘Avengers: Endgame’. Ideally, it should have at least crossed $1.5 million given the glowing reviews.

Other big heroes and medium-range stars with similar ratings have pulled in 2 million dollars. Recent examples were ‘Fidaa’, ‘Geetha Givendam’ and Nithin's ‘A Aa’ which all touched $2 million mark.

Nani is the only star after Mahesh Babu and NTR Jr who have six movies that had crossed $1 million mark in USA market. This proves that he has steady following in US. However, his range is now growing. His films are still hovering in the range of $1 to $1.2 million, not moving beyond that point.

So, what is the go forward for him now? Nani needs to think about this and etch a special plan to increase his overall market.
