Weekend BO: iSmart Shankar turns blockbuster

This is the biggest opening for Ram. Ram’s films earlier used to collect Rs 17 to Rs 22 Cr in their lifetime run. On the other hand, his latest release ‘iSmart Shankar’ which is directed by Puri Jagannadh, has collected Rs 22 Cr in just four days of its release. This is a massive collection.

In AP and Telangana, this is a huge hit. However, the film was not able to draw the audiences in the USA market, where it collected just $200k+ (four days + premiere), which is similar to the Ram’s earlier film ‘Hello Guru Prema Kosam’ ($204k). 

What made people throng the theaters in Telugu states needs to be analyzed. Content-wise, the film has nothing extraordinary, nor the director or its star are on a popular wave. Still, it has managed to take such a humungous opening for a Ram starrer. 

The film’s music soundtrack has struck a chord with the masses. Directed by Puri Jagannadh, the film starred Ram, Nidhii Agerwal and Nabha Natesh in the lead roles.
