Samantha made me complete: Naga Chaitanya

Thursday, November 1, 2018 - 14:30

Naga Chaitanya had a release in September this year. Barely two months after the release of 'Shailaja Reddy Alludu', he is testing his luck at ticket window with Chandoo Mondeti directed 'Savyasachi' that is releasing on November 2nd worldwide. The actor who is currently acting with his wife Samantha in a romantic entertainer being directed by Siva Nirvana says he would start experimentation if he gets two solid hits.

Do you think that you have arrived as a commercial hero?

Collections wise, I feel I have reached to the stage but I will get full clarity only after 'Savyasachi' releases. The first half of the film is highly entertaining and the second half will be a cat and mouse game between Madhavan and me.

How was it working with a pan-India actor like Madhavan?

His entry into this project has changed the dynamics of 'Savyasachi'. His negative role brought a belief factor in the film and made us feel very confident about the project. He is something special and will surprise you in the film.

Tell us about your association with Mythri Movie Makers?

Initially, 'Savysachi' was not that big movie. When Mythri Movie Makers has come on board to produce it, they made Chandoo to set it up big and asked us to rope in big stars in main roles. They are on top of the game right now and whatever they are doing is clicking. So I have no complaints.

How disappointed were you with the result of 'Shailaja Reddy'?

Sometimes things are not in our hands. We as a team believe in a concept and feel that the audience will like it but that did not happen with 'Shailaja Reddy'. While it made safe money for the producers, my fans and the general audience did not like it. I had many hopes on that project but that did not work out.

Savyasachi looks a risky subject. What do you say?

It is a risky subject and even I felt the same during the script sessions. While shooting also I had many doubts but they were cleared only after a few days went by. Chandoo has clarity on his film and the manner in which he has made the alien hand syndrome connect to the audience should be appreciated.

What's your dad's reaction to the film?

He (Nagarjuna) saw it and liked it very much. Sam saw some rushes and she also loved it. But it is the reaction of the audience which is the most important. Till now, I am growing one step at a time in my career and learning from all my mistakes.

How has marriage changed you?

It has made a better person for sure. I used to feel a bit incomplete and now that sense is gone with Sam coming into my life. She is a working woman and takes good care of me. What else I want?
