SRA is crucial for me: Anu Emmanuel

Had she known what her role was in 'Agnyaathavasi', she would not have done it, says Anu Emmanuel. That’s a thing of past now. She is looking forward to Maruthi directed 'Shailaja Reddy Alludu'. She plays daughter of Ramya Krishna in this one and has paired with Naga Chaitanya. Anu Emmanuel talks about the film and more…

Tell us about Sailaja Reddy Alludu? What does it mean to you?

I have not signed any film in the recent past as my entire concentration is on Sailaja Reddy Alludu. The film has all the necessary mass flavours and I am confident that it will be a good hit. As only success works in this industry, I am also waiting for this film's success which will provide me that platform to bounce back again.

How disappointed were you after your recent flops?

I was quite shattered as I had good hopes on Agnyathavasi and Naa Peru Surya. I only signed Agnyathavasi for Pawan Kalyan. Had I known that my role in the film would be similar to Pranitha's song and dance role in Attarintiki Daredhi, I would have not done it at all. But for Na Peru Surya, I had a meaty role but things fell flat.

Describe your role in Sailaja Reddy?

I am rich and spoilt brat called Anu who has ego issues with her mother Ramya Krishna. Performing in such a role was quite challenging for me. Maruthi penned lengthy dialogues which I found very difficult to recite. I hope I will stand out in the film which is very crucial for me in my career.

How was it working with Chay and Ramya Krishna?

Chay is a very chilled out actor. Even he had a challenging role as he was playing this loud and mass character for the first time in his career. Ramya Krishna is such a sweetheart and helped me well through the making. We have a funny track in the film which creates good comedy in the proceedings featuring Prudhvi.

How difficult was it to adjust to Maruthi's style of film making?

Maruthi is very clear as to what he wants from his actors. He is simple and does not create any tension on the sets. Sometimes, scenes used to look over the top but when you see it on the monitor they turned out hilarious. The way he has etched my role made me sign the film right away.

Any regrets of losing out on Geetha Govindam?

Yes, a bit. As the film got a bit delayed, all my dates were blocked for Bunny's film. I had no choice but to leave that film. I feel very happy that the film has given Vijay and Rashmika their much-needed success in their career.
