Tamannah will enthrall audiences this month with ‘Next Yenti’, that marks the Telugu debut of Bollywood director Kunal Kohli. Sundeep Kishan is the male lead in this film. Tamannah’s kitty is full of movies. Chiranjeevi’s ‘Sye Raa’, Venkatesh starrer ‘F2’ and ‘That Is Mahalakshmi’ are her next releases. Ahead of ‘Next Enti’ release, she speaks to the media.

Tell us about Next Yenti?

Till now, I have only done either serious roles or the roles which have a lot of glamour. For the first time in my career, I am playing my age and this is how I think in personal life too. It's about a girl from today's generation who openly talks about sex and meets several men before meeting Mr.Perfect. This film is a new age formula in Telugu and the freshness in the script attracted me.

How challenging was it to play a bold role?

It was really challenging to play this role. It was hard to shoot for the movie as we had long takes which lasted over 3 minutes each. In such situations to get the Telugu right and go with the flow of the film was a big deal but I somehow I managed it.

About Kunal Kohli directing a Telugu film?

Kunal is a very sorted director with right vision. He had a clear idea what to do and his team of writers was very strong. The narrative style is quite different as we speak a lot to the camera in this film. So, he was spot on with his direction and exactly knew how to narrate the story in Telugu.

How different is Next Yenti from regular rom-com?

Firstly, this film is not a rom-com. It has different perspectives but majorly, it shows about what a girl thinks of a relationship. Also, no one in Telugu cinema has discovered the father-daughter relationship more and this film does that through Sarath Babu's character.

How do you balance characters in your career?

I feel that I am an actor first then a star. I get to play so many characters and once again I play such diverse roles in these two films ‘Next Yenti’ and ‘That is Mahalakshmi’. When I am doing that particular part I try to become that character and act accordingly. Telugu cinema is changing and I feel that this is a kind of a modern film which is coming at the right moment in Telugu.

Tell us about your dream project Sye Raa?

Firstly, I need to thank Surender Reddy for taking me in such a big project. It is a dream come true to work with Chiranjeevi garu in such a project. I start shooting soon and I am very excited to share screen space with the megastar.

Is this the lowest phase of your career?

You know what, I feel extremely happy when people say that to me as I get even more pumped up to work hard and come back with a bang. I have four films in hand and if I was going through such a bad phase no one would have offered me so many films.
