"Jyo Achyutananda is not a triangular love story"

As Avasarala Srinivas awaits the release of his second film, he talks about the subject. Saying that 'Jyo Achyutananda' is not a triangular love story, he adds that it's an emotional love story between two brothers.

On the subject:

It has been written that 'Jyo Achyutananda' is a triangular love story. It's not. I would say that it's a love story taking place between two brothers, played by Nara Rohith and Naga Shourya. Regina is their tenant. There is an emotional relationship between Achyuth and Anand, the elder and younger brothers. It's not a serious film. The first half has good comedy quotient. In the second half, there is a good dose of emotional quotient.

Two time-lines

Even though there was a sibling film like 'SVSC', my film has a fresh point. Their emotional journey is interesting. The first half is set in 2010. The second half takes place in 2016.  And the brothers are married. This is told in the first scenes itself.

First film was routine drama

'Oohalu Gusagusalade' was not a novel story line. It was routine. But 'Jyo Achyutananda' is fresh. I felt that I shouldn't choose a similar story, lest people say that I am capable of directing only one type of story. I wanted to come up with an interesting story this time. That's why I took time to pen it.  All directors, like Shekar Kammula garu, who also write their films, take 4 months or so to write a film.

Nara Rohith was not first choice

Some actors who had evinced interest to work with me backed off after finding that my film has two heroes. I was sceptical before approaching Nara Rohith garu, thinking he too would not do it. But he said OK. I then approached Naga Shourya, whom I had in mind even as I wrote the movie. 'Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu' and 'Oopiri' are among the multi-starrers that have come in recent times. When big stars do a multi-starrer, it won't affect their career even if the result is disappointing. But that's not the case with others. Budding actors are cautious. My script needed upcoming stars. It's risky for them to do a film like this. Maybe that's why they rejected 'Jyo Achyutananda'.

How Regina came on board

We held auditions for a new face in Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, etc. After all, Rashi Khanna who was introduced in 'Oohalu Gusa Gusalade' has gone on to bag big projects. I and Sai Korrapati are proud. So, we hoped to cast a new face once again. But even after all the auditions, we couldn't find someone who could look confident and dominate Nara Rohith and Naga Shourya. So, we chose Regina.

Music is a big plus:

Kalyan Koduri gave a song like 'Em Sandeham Ledu' for my first film. Recently, it crossed 10 million hits on You Tube. I don't take the credit for the number because it was meant for some other film. I accepted it when he offered to me. As for 'Jyo Achyutananda', 'Oka Lalana' song has been special. Bhaskarabhatla has written all the numbers. The songs are a big asset for the movie.

Emotions have to be conveyed interestingly

I don't understand whether my film is multiplex or otherwise.  As far as my opinion is concerned, the emotions are the same anywhere. They have to be conveyed in an interesting way and the audience will watch it.

Gap

The reason for the gap after my first film is that I have been busy as an actor.  'Kanche', 'Nannaku Prematho', 'A Aa' and others. I fractured my hand while shooting for 'Kanche'. I had to undergo surgery. Therefore, writing 'Jyo Achyutananda' took so much time.

It's emotional more than adult comedy:

Many advised me against acting in the remake of 'Hunterrr'. It's not about adult comedy. I got emotional watching the second half.

Forthcoming movies:

It's an agreement to do two films for Vaarahi. But it has been extended to another movie. I am planning to do a film with Nani.  I am not sure if it will a fun film or a serious one.  After 'Gentleman', we have seen a new Nani. My ideas regarding him have evolved.
