Kajal Aggarwal: I am a restless soul
Kajal Aggarwal debuted in Teja directed ‘Lakshmi Kalyanam’ in 2007 and in 2017 she did work with Teja again for ‘Nene Raju Nene Mantri’ that went to become hit. ‘Sita’ is her third collaboration with the director. As the film is gearing up for release on May 24, Kajal opens about the movie, her bonding with Teja and new films. ‘Sita’ stars Bellamkonda Suresh, Kajal Aggarwal and Sonu Sood in main roles.
I was after Teja sir for this role
Teja sir narrated me this story of ‘Sita’ long back and I loved it. Somehow, I only wanted to do it but he got busy with other films. Once again when he narrated the film during ‘Nene Raju Nene Mantri’, I told him I would at any cost do this role. When the film finally was locked, Teja sir came to me and here we are with the promotions.
Sita represents today's women in the film
I represent today's women in the film. My character is selfish, stubborn and very career-oriented. I go to any lengths to fulfill a task. For this film, I read a lot of books, met so many people and even researched on the net. It was a one-time opportunity for me as such roles are very rare these days.
Teja sir offers me the best roles always
Teja sir and I go a long way back. He introduced me and gave me my career. Whenever I do his films somehow I get the best roles and ‘Sita’ is one such film which I have immense hope and am eagerly looking forward to seeing how the audience will react to the film.
Bellamkonda and I share a special rapport
Bellamkonda Sreenivas and I are very close and have that comfort zone as we have worked together before. Our rapport made this film get superb performances. In this film, he has a very interesting role and Teja sir has extracted the best out of him. You will see the actor and not the star in this film.
The story is more important than my character
I have immense love for cinema and that is the reason I am still around. I am a restless soul and cannot stay idle. That is the reason I have been working without gap. I need to like a story and then only I say yes to the film. For me, more than my role, the entire story is important. That is the reason, you won't see me in more female oriented-films.
There is nothing wrong in acting with younger heroes
There is nothing wrong in acting with young heroes. If there is a comfort factor, why not. Also, new roles will be written for us when actors like me say yes to doing films with young heroes. Another advantage is that we get more longevity in this field which is a must.
Bharateyudu is very much on
As of now, there is a film with Jayam Ravi in Tamil. Sharwa's film will be out soon and from June I start working on ‘Bharateyudu 2’ (Indian 2). The project is very much on and will be made on a big scale.
