Srirastu Subhamastu - Movie Review

What’s it about?

 
Sirish (Allu Sirish) is son of a rich person business man (Prakash Raj). His dad has low opinion about middle-class girls that they love rich guys with a sole aim to become rich persons. Sirish challenges his father that all middle-class girls are not like that and he says that he has fallen in love with a beauty Anu (Lavanya) and he will introduce himself as a nobody with no family background and make her fall in love with him despite no riches behind him. He meets Anu and tries hard to win her love. When she is about to express her love to him, her father’s (Rao Ramesh) close friend (Tanikella) wants to take her to his home as his daughter-in- law. Anu’s father owes all his life to this friend and he thankfully agrees to this alliance. What happens next?

Analysis:
Director Parasuram’s strength lies in dialogue writing. He puts hero or heroine who is in love into a conflict of family matters despite picking up regular story. Though the storyline of his latest film ‘Srirastu Subhamastu’ is not different from any of the recent romantic dramas or his earlier movie ‘Solo’, he has packaged the movie entertainingly. Using his core strength of good dialogues and humor, he has made this regular romantic drama a decent watch.

Also ‘Bommarillu’ effect is also visible. The film starring Allu Sirish and Lavanya Tripathi begins in a simple way and the beginning scenes don’t amuse us but as we move towards the interval he makes us sit happily and watch it.

The second half is peppered with good comedy scenes involving Ali and Subbaraju, Ali and Allu Sirish. The highlight of the movie is the confrontation scene of Allu Sirish and Prakash and Rao Ramesh talking to Sirish about middle-class girls. Both the scenes are handled effectively. The scene of Sirish pointing out his father’s wrong attitude towards middle-class girl, not giving respect to his vadina as she comes from middle-class family has some touching dialogues penned by Parasuram.

Also Rao Ramesh explaining the reason why most parents look for an alliance near to them for their daughters is told convincingly. ‘Bommarillu’ scenes are present in a different way.

Beginning scenes are boring but the last 25 minutes make up of the flaws. Allu Sirish looks better. Looks wise, he has improved. Drastic makeover is there. He needs to work on performance. Still he has come up with better shot in confrontation scene with Prakash Raj. Lavanya Tripathi is good. But she is too thin in this film. Rao Ramesh once again steals the show.

Prakash Raj in a small but important role has elevated the scenes in the climax. Tanikella and Sumalatha are good. Ali entertains with his comedy. The film has not many songs but the title song composed by Thaman is catchy. Has decent technical values with bright cinematography and rich production design. As writer and director, Parasuram has shown strength in the second half of the movie but he needs to come out this same mold.

Bottom-line: Despite regular storyline, 'Srirastu Subhamastu’ makes a decent watch with its entertaining second half. The penultimate sequences are interesting. First half, '‘Bommarillu’ hangover are the minuses but the second half makes up of the flaws.
