What's it about!

'Achari America Yatra' is all about the story of Krishnamachari (Vishnu) who is a sincere priest. He along with Appalachari (played by Brahmanandam) land in all sorts of problems because of Chari's love interest(Pragya Jaiswal) who belongs to the family featuring Posani Krishna Murali, Pradeep Rawat, and Raja Ravindra. Upset with Achari's love affair, they send Pragya Jaiswal away to America. Well, the major crux of the story is based on the manner in which Achari heads to the US with his gang and brings back his lover.

Analysis

Nageswara Reddy's strength has always been clean comedy even though his plots are routine. Here too in 'Achari America Yatra', there is a lot of scope for comedy but the insipid narration takes center stage and spoils the fun most of the time. As long as Brahmi and Vishnu hold the screens with their comedy timing, things look okay but the rest of the star cast and the manner in which things evolve for the rest of the movie do not hold any interest whatsoever.

Things become so silly that in place of America what you get to see is Malaysia and its surrounding areas. The villain's track is kept weak and because of this, there is no strong conflict point between the protagonist and the hero. Hero taking his bunch of priests and just fooling the villain with silly tricks gets to you at once.

There is nothing new that you have not seen in this film before as the manner in which things are showcased gets nerve-wracking. The proceedings are started off quite convincingly and things look fun till the first half. But the moment the second half starts, some unforced scenes of melodrama and comedy are rubbed on to the audience.

Prudhvi's comedy, in particular, will make you look at the exit screens as things get so nasty for the viewers.

Pragya Jaiswal looks cute in the songs and does her part in a fine manner. Prabhas Sreenu and Praveen play their sidekick roles with ease but the execution from the director is so weak that all the actors look quite silly in the second half. Too many fights in the climax drag the film for no reason.

Thaman's musical score is also disappoints. Movies like these which have a regular story need to be packed with good comedy but sadly, that is not the case here as the film is an old-school comedy which does not work in many areas.

Bottom Line

'Achari America Yatra', based on Malladi Venkata Krishnamoorthy's old novel, lost half of its sheen when it was postponed quite a few times in the past. Now that it has released, there is nothing much to rave about its proceedings or the setup. In the name of entertainment, all you get to see is jaded humor, nagging storyline and outdated scenes.
