Story:
Gautham (Raj Tarun), a Radio Jockey in Vizag, is blind. He happens to meet doctor Nethra (Hebbah) and soon they fall in love. Thanks to a donor, he gets eyes. But soon, he sees the dead person whose eyes are given to him. While other people think he is talking nonsense, he sees the aatma. As per the wishes of aatma, he kills a guy and the aatma then asks him to kill the real villain Babji (Raja Ravindra). Is he really possessed by this spirit or does Gautham have a hidden agenda?
Analysis
Writer Veligonda Srinivas who penned scripts like 'Damarukam' and 'Akhil' has turned director with this film. As a writer Veligonda Srinivas has delivered duds but he has come with a story that has enough potential to make a decent entertainer. But his raw direction has made the movie unbearable in most parts. 'Andhhagadu' actually turns out to be a comedy farce than a comedy. The movie begins on a very dull and cacophony note, but picks up momentum as it heads to interval. But the relief is momentary. Post interval it slips away again. Thankfully, the climax twist is somewhat is interesting.
Wonder how AK Entertainments that produced two decent (though regular) comedy movies - 'Aado Rakam Eedo Rakam' and 'Kittu Unnadu Jagratha' greenlit this? The so-called comedy in the first half is bearable. But it is too clichéd and loud.
Normally Raj Tarun saves a dull movie with his acting and antics but here he has not much scope to show his talent. Though he gets sight very early in the movie, he puts his dark shades even in all the dream songs. Hebbah Patel is wasted. Rajendra Prasad in the role of Kulakarni the aatma is good. Raja Ravindra's villain characterisation lacks dhum. Among other actors, Shayaji Shinde is okay.The music is too loud. The songs don't make any impression. Editing is tacky. Production values and cinematography are decent. As writer and director Veligonda Srinivas doesn't score any points.
Bottom-line: 'Andhhagadu' has some scattered fun moments but it never comes into the groove. The screenplay and the direction leave much to be desired. Has interesting twist in the end, though. This one is only for those who like loud comedy.
