His sister Anu falls in love with his best friend Mahesh (Vikranth) oblivious to the knowledge of Surya. On the other hand, a contract killer Samba (Harish Uthaman) is trying to kill his friend Mahesh and his sister Anu. Who gave supari to him to kill them and for what reason?

Analysis

After winning accolades with 'Maanagaram'/'Mahanagaram', Sundeep Kishan has come up with another bilingual action thriller. 'C/o Surya' is the latest film from director Suseenthiran who earlier made Karthi starrer 'Naa Peru Siva'(NPS). Like in 'Naa Peru Siva', the protagonist here too goes all out for the gang that harms his family member. In 'NPS', it was hero's father who got killed and here it is protagonist's sister that is in danger

The director neatly establishes the characters first - introducing the life of Surya, his family and friends, his lover Janani (Mehreen). On parallel note, he also introduces the supari killer Samba and his activities. Then sets up the drama – collision of two worlds that of Surya and the contract killer's. As protagonist is pushed to protect his sister and friend, the twists and turns happen in swift and steady way.

The film takes its own time to come to the point but the later portions are gripping enough. It has its share of many flaws. Most of the scenes are straight out of template action thriller.

The highlight of the movie is Sundeep Kishan catching the key member of Samba and the unravelling of the real motive of the villain. And the biggest drawback is lengthy first half in which nothing happens. The scene of heroine falling for hero when he saves an auto driver from his suicidal attempt is such a yawn. Then Sundeep Kishan going to heroine's parents' house and explaining his love and the following sequences reek of total Tamil flavour. However, it has inherent message and the final moments are engrossing.

Sundeep Kishan is growing as an actor. In the titular role, he is not only fitted to the T but also has given sincere and honest performance. As a simple guy who does anything for friends and family, he is perfect. His intense action sequences in the second half is neat. Mehreen as Janani is okay and has very little role. Harish Uthaman as main villain is splendid. He is the main asset. Vikranth as friend has done good job. Sathya and Praveen provide some comic laughs.

The film has decent production and technical values with adequate cinematography by Laxman Kumar. Imman has given two melodious songs but the placement of the songs are not right. Action sequences are realistic. Director Suseenthiran has come up with a decent action thriller.

Bottom-line: 'C/o Surya' is an action thriller that takes lot of time to build but maintains suspense well. Sundeep Kishan in title role shines in this off-beat action drama that makes a decent watch.
