What's it about!
Suri (Sunil) gets married to a recording dancer Pushpa (Nandini) to help his friend Veera Babu (Naresh), a tailor in a village called Satyanarayanapuram. Veera Babu promises his MLA that he would bring 25 couple for Maha Wedding Sammelan and Suri thinks that he's marrying Pushpa for one day, just an act but it turns out that he actually married her and he needs to divorce her if he wants to marry his girlfriend (Poorna). Rest of the story is how Soori and Veera Babu come out of this tangle.
Director Bhimaneni Srinivasa Rao has directed this comedy film based on Tamil movie Ezhil's 'Velainu Vandhutta Vellaikaaran' Bhimaneni seems to have not made many changes to the Tamil movie. While Naresh sticks to the lead hero's role which is not written well, but it is Sunil who has done his work well here with his comedy timing. He is free of burden of playing lead hero and in the role of comedian, he has given his best. His track of marrying Pushpa who is popular as dancer is funny. The movie has no logic, not proper storyline except the formulaic template. The comedy scenes come and go with no rhyme and reason.
The only intent seems to generate laughs by hook or crook. So, in the process some scenes work, some don't. If you are looking for laughs and don't care for logic, it may provide time pass but in general the film doesn't bring anything novel to the comedy genre.
While the first half of the movie is fairly neat comedy, the film in the second half turns mess. The only saving grace post-interval is Jaya Prakash Reddy's story-telling episode. But this one also is stretched beyond a point.
As far as performances concerned, Sunil is impressive here and Allari Naresh plays in his regular style. Chitra Shukla as woman constable is okay. Jaya Prakash Reddy provides some laughs and Brahmi's track is regular.
There is not much to talk about technical aspects or music. Director Bhimaneni just sticks to the formula.
Bottom-line: 'Silly Fellows' is regular and formulaic comedy movie based on a Tamil hit. Some comedy sequences have worked though. Don't expect much from this.
